Within the scope of our project, the “5th BIOENERGY STUDIES SYMPOSIUM” was held in Antalya on January 17-18, 2024.
At the opening of the program, TAGEM Field Crops Research Department Head and Symposium President Suat YILMAZ thanked all stakeholders who have contributed to the project so far, especially the project team, and expressed his wishes that the project will be beneficial for our country.
Turkey UNIDO Representative Süleyman YILMAZ mentioned that the foundations of the project were laid a long time ago and informed the participants about this long-term process. He also provided information about other activities carried out by UNIDO in Turkey.
TAGEM General Manager Dr. Metin TÜRKER briefly emphasized in his speech that the 3 main issues of today's critical importance are: Food, Water and Energy, and that these issues will continue to be on the World Agenda in the future. He stated that these 3 problems push the World to find solutions, and in this context, our Country's existing He mentioned that great steps have been taken towards the most accurate evaluation of its potential. He stated that the outputs of this project have very important outputs within the scope of converting waste and residues other than usable materials into energy. He also emphasized that these outputs and many awareness studies carried out to reach all stakeholders in the sector within the scope of the project so far constitute an important basis whose value will be better understood in the coming years.
Following the informative presentations of Muhammed GÖKALP, one of the project assistants, and Önay GEYLAN from UNIDO Vienna Headquarters; the symposium, which continues with the presentations of invited speakers Prof. Dr. Martin Kaltschmitt, Prof. Dr. David HERAK, Prof. Dr. Günnur KOÇAR, Prof. Dr. Nuri AZBAR, will be held in 2 separate halls for 2 days with 17 posters, 43 oral presentations and more than 150 participants from 4 countries.
The program was attended by our General Directorate, Field Crops Research Department Head Suat YILMAZ, Soil and Water Resources Research Department Head Mehmet Mustafa YEŞİL, Project Team, Western Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute Director Dr. Abdullah ÜNLÜ, Konya Soil Water and Combating Desertification Research Institute Directorate and Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute Directorate researchers. In addition, UNIDO team, representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, academicians from various universities, relevant civil society institutions and stakeholders from the private sector.
